French Toast with Maple Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of bread, preferably challah bread

  • 3 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • Dollops of maple butter

  • First Chair maple syrup, to taste

Preparation:

  1. Slice the bread into 1-inch thick slices.

  2. Whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, and vanilla.

  3. Heat a griddle over medium heat, and add butter to the hot surface as needed; swirling to cover.

  4. Dip a slice of bread in the egg and cream mixture; flip and re-dip. Add to griddle, and grill until golden on one side; flip and repeat.

  5. Serve with more maple butter, and of course, maple syrup.
